What to expect when you visit the clinic as a patient

The first consultation lasts for 50 minutes in order to gain a clear understanding of your complete state of health. You will be asked about current health problems, including details of any medicines you are taking, previous medical history, diet and general lifestyle. Simple physical examinations, similar to those conducted by your GP may also be necessary.

The Archway Clinic is a training clinic and so most patients will have their case history taken by a student practitioner with other students observing. However an experienced, qualified Practitioner is present throughout the consultation and is responsible for the treatment plan. A limited opportunity exists for patients to have individual consultations without student observers.

The treatment plan formulated may involve dietary and lifestyle advice and in most cases herbal medicines, individually tailored to the patient, will be prescribed as part of our holistic approach. These are dispensed from the Clinic’s own dispensary and be will be ready about 30 minutes after the consultation.

A follow-up appointment will be arranged usually for one or two weeks later and subsequent visits may follow at monthly or longer intervals. The length of treatment will depend on the illness ands the individual concerned.

Repeat prescriptions can be requested by telephone, and when authorised, the medicines can be either be sent by post or collected in person from the Clinic.

All records are securely kept and complete patient confidentiality in ensured. The Archway Clinic is registered with the Data Protection Agency.
