At our student clinics, we are able to offer consultations at a reduced rate. For those who wish to see a practitioner without students being present, there are private clinics available on Thursday and Saturday.
An additional charge is made for medicines, and this will vary depending on what has been dispensed. One week's medicine costs around £6-8.
Your first consultation with a herbalist will probably last about 50 minutes. In the training clinics, patients will have their case history taken by a final year student supervised by an experienced practitioner. You will be asked questions about your current state of health and whether you are taking any medication. You will also be asked about your medical and family history, your lifestyle including diet, and your emotional state. You may have a physical examination as well.
Your herbalist is likely to suggest changes to your lifestyle and diet as well as prescribing herbal medicine treatment. Your herbal remedy may be made up of several different herbs as the herbalist will adapt it to fit your individual needs. There are many forms that your medicine may come in, including syrups, capsules, creams or tinctures. It's also possible for remedies to be taken as infusions, teas or juices.
You may have a follow-up appointment after about two weeks, and once a month after that to monitor your progress. However, this will depend on your individual circumstances.
If you would like to discuss your health problem before booking an appointment, please call the Archway Herbal Clinic on 0208 411 4411 or email us on reception@archwayherbal.co.uk.
