Where can I train to become a Medical Herbalist?

The Archway Herbal Clinic is linked to Middlesex University, providing the clinical training for students on the BSc in Herbal Medicine.

We also run seasonal herb talks, walks and short courses. Please telephone 0208 411 4411 or email reception@archwayherbal.co.uk to book a place. All introductory courses are sponsored by the NIMH Education Fund. Overviews to these are seen below:

The BSc in Herbal Medicine, the first course of its kind in Europe, has been running since 1994. Graduates of the course gain an honours degree and professional qualification enabling them to practice as Medical Herbalists. During clinical training, students work in small groups with an experienced Practitioner. This includes specific training in clinical skills such as physical examination, diagnostic testing, taking consultations, formulating treatment plans and dispensing herbal medicines.

The Archway Herbal Clinic also provides an opportunity for students and health care professionals to observe the practice of Herbal Medicine. Those studying Herbal Medicine at other colleges or other complementary therapies or working in conventional professional health care settings can attend the Archway Herbal Clinic where they can observe patient consultations, the dispensing of herbal medicines, and participate in discussions on holistic diagnosis and therapeutic treatment.
