After enjoying a long and sucessful career in the performing arts, Lorraine qualified as a medical herbalist in 1999. She went on to gain an MSc in Herbal Medicine in 2003, being in the first group of students to do this.
As a herbalist, Lorraine has worked inthe dermatology department of Whipps Cross Hospital, in a variety of clinics, and in private practice, as well as working at the Archway Clinic of Herbal Medicine since 2004. She has served as External Examiner for an MSc in Nutrition based on the energetics of the individual.
Lorraine is interested in Goethean/Contemplative Science, a way of considering the natural world and our unique relationship with it, and she holds workshops in this observational science.
Lorraine treats a wide range of patients and follows a holistic approach, taking into account diet, lifestyle and emotions. She is very interested in nutritional aspects of health, not only in such areas as food intolerances, but throughout a wide range of health issues. She gives herb walks and maintains close contact with plants throughout the seasons of the year. In her practice, Lorraine is influenced by the Western tradition of Humoral medicine, a way of looking at people which recognises the unique balance of each individual.
