Richard is an experienced Medical Herbalist who has worked in training clinics and in private practice since he qualified in 1989 at the College of Phytotherapy.

Richard's involvement with the Archway Clinic of Herbal Medicine began in 1995 when, under the auspices of the National Institute of Medical Herbalists (NIMH) and Middlesex University, he set up the Clinic to provide the clinical training for the students on the Herbal Medicine degree course. Since then he has continued to work at the Clinic, while lecturing regularly at Middlesex University and at many other universities and colleges. He is academic assessor for herbal medicine at the Universities of East London and Wales. Richard has undertaken research on herbal medicine in relation to osteoarthritis, headaches and psoriasis. He has written on herbal medicine for the national press, specialist magazines and the web, appearing on television and on the radio as well as being in great demand as a speaker to the general public.

Richard's practice is informed by medical science but is essentially holistic in the Western tradition derived from Hippocrates. In addition to his work at the Clinic Richard enjoys a general family practice. He has a particular interest in digestive disorders and musculoskeletal complaints
